This week and last it was for sure a perfectly timed hymn during the preparation of the altar at Mass. Singing “Seek Ye First” and arriving at the part of the”man does not live on bread alone, but by every word/that proceeds from the mouth of God” WHEN THE ALTAR IS BEING PREPARED FOR THE BREAD THAT WILL BECOME JESUS WHO IS THE WORD THAT PROCEEDS FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD??!?!??!?!??!!!!! I mean come on ❤️
I had plans to cancel my subscription after lent because I only have so much time to read all the newsletters. But I didn’t. And I’m so glad now I didn’t. Just to read this little nugget this morning was good. I think have been noticing little delights but not this intentional. So now I will be intentional about it. Today’s little delight: Finding little pink blooms in my garden at the foot of my statue of Mary. And on the feast of the Visitation. Blessings to you Laura. (I have a friend from the past that survived ovarian cancer. Her lessons she learned from her journey were such a gift. She clung/clings to the joy of laughter each day. And in that season of my life that was so good for me to hear.)
Ah I love this, and so timely too! We Can Do Hard Things just re-released their interview with Ross Gay (not to be missed and I was listening on a walk just now!) and my yoga teacher frequently reads that Mary Oliver poem at the end of class in savasana. I just finished my weekly essay and it's on being open to wonder and the unexpected.... seems like the Holy Spirit is putting a lot of us on the same page and that's a delight! <3
This is very similar to a practice I've been doing - looking for those 'glimmers', beauty, joy, delights - all those wonderful, little things that make life worth living and remind me how much God loves us.
Thank you thank you Laura! I’m starting this practice right now! Your words are SO very often my delight!!I loved reading your beautiful list of delights too, thank you❤️
One of my favorite practices of delight is allowing myself to shriek with joy in the car when I see a very cute dog being walked. Highly recommend!
